MORE Jono

No image set

Born in 1983, Jono More grew up in rural South Canterbury, on the South Island of New Zealand.

Vast stands of ancient ti kouka (cabbage trees) are a feature of this area and have proved to be a big inspiration for Jono’s art. Their distinctive primeval form dominates the majority of his work along with other distinctive icons of Aotearoa's vegetation such as harakeke and the nikau.

Having studied ecology at University of Otago, Jono also works in wildlife conservation which takes him out into some remote and very beautiful parts of the country to work on a range of endemic species.  A lot of inspiration is gained from this and Jono hopes that he can portray a sense to preserve the natural environment through his art.
